I have a 10000CL 2 speed on an 8ft heavy action Ugly Stick. I like the reel a lot. It casts well. Right now I have 30lb Berkley Big Game mono on it. But, I'm planning on putting some braid on it. I upgraded the drag to Carbontex, which was a very nice improvement on the drag. It's a very smooth reel, with good power, and casting ability. It won't win any distance casting contests. But, it will throw 3-6oz and bait out to about 60-70yrds or so with the mono I have on it if I really put some sling into my cast. With braid I expect to get a few more yards out of her.

If you want one that will cast a bit farther I'd recommend the 7000 version, or a CT version without the level wind. I like the level wind, so I don't have any CT's. If I remember correctly there is a 6500CL Big game, a 7000, and a 9000 besides the the big 10000. But, I'm not entirely sure on that.

One thing I do know is they are hard to come by. I got mine on Ebay, and it wasn't cheap. I got lucky and snagged my 10000 for less than 150. I can't find one now for less than 300. The smaller sizes may be a bit easier to come by. But, they are still gonna run you a good bit more than the regular models.

I would add that I'm not talking about any of the China made reels. I'm strictly speaking about the Sweden made reels. I don't own a China made Abu round reel, and don't plan to own one.

Thanks a bunch Marty, I own a china made abu and you are right, the quality is not the same as my others from Sweden.

I own several garcia reels and was thinking about the 10000 for the line carrying capability. I was also checking out the 9000 and 7000, at basspro the prices weren't too bad.

You might have better luck on the actual abu garcia website, that is where I was reviewing them.
