A friend of mine sent me this picture of her brother. They offer only a few permits in different regions of Alaska to hunt Kodiaks and he was fortunate enough to get one. This one supposedly goes around 8 ft. Won't be ready for the mantel till next year. Supposedly it takes a year to cure.

barndoor That's a good question. Huge bear though. I have to admit that I fear the bear. I would hate to come in contact with on, it doesn't seem a good way to go.

From what I've heard, they still allow limited hunting to control numbers. You're usually told to take a bear in X location that is Y number of years old. For the most part it's not too sporting because you have to use an outfitter that knows exactly where the bear is that they want removed. It's not like we've run a natural enemy of the bear to the brink of extinction so now we have to control it's numbers like we have with other game animals. It's just to keep them from becoming a nuissance and to sell some tags/not have to pay a professional to remove it.
The only true intercontinental champion.
