 Do catfish spawn right before crappie?

I have been catching a lot of catfish in the spots I usually catch spawning crappie at. Im wondering if this is a sign that the spawn is close, or do they spawn at the same time??????

some say catfish come in to eat the eggs from other fish spawns
I have no clue ....
but we did ketch bunches last year at the end of the crappie spawn in shallow water

I'm with ketchin. I think they come eat the eggs and fry of other spawning fish. I too have caught a bunch of blues and channels during the white bass spawn. I used to trotline(in the rivers) for big yellow cats and late march and may seemed to be the best. Good luck and don't poke yourself when cleanin them cats www.thecrappieking.com

Nah, catfish spawn after the crappie....they are just eating from the buffet now...

Them big cats like to hide in brush and eat the crappie fish aswell.

carp get thier share of the eggs also. eveything is trying to eat everything else it seems.

Later on this month, when the shad start spawning is when I load the freezer the catfish fillets.

Channels here spawn around mid may- mid june
