Great info. Now let's see who brings in the first triple digit fish. I think we'll see it in 5-10 years.

I am good with most of that, but I really wish we would solve the whole issue by eliminating the entire LAKE RECORD process. No need then to be concerned about it and just put the fish back. Process doesn't work to begin with because you still have to ACCURATELY weigh a fish on a scale no matter if it is certified or not to get the true weight. I can bounce a certified scale and get a pic of it with no issues. Catch the fish, enjoy it, put it back.
I can guarantee that in most cases, larger fish have been caught that were bigger than the current records. What does it prove? I do not carry scales large enough to weigh a lot of fish, but it really is OK cause I get nothing for it.
Not trying to start an argument, just curious what it matters. Most fish dubbed as lake records end up dead in the end becuase of the efforts to find out if it is a record. At the moment, I think you get a certificate. It really says that i was willing to go through effort to get paperwork. Maybe for a kid or something, but I think the photo is worth way more than a certificate. Man, after hearing how excited my dad was w/ me on the phone a few years back when he broke the lake record bluegill on Lake Gilmer, i'd hate to see the Texas Lake Records Program vanish, child or adult. I would like to see more marinas carry scales equipped to do tha' job tho. https://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/action/waterecords.php?WB_code=1778 LOL! That's cool dude. Kudos to your Dad. Also... Next time you talk to somebody at Texas Parks and Wildlife could you ask them if they could start puttin big blue cats on the certificates instead of a bass like they did on Drawouts? I don't think Medic is going to enjoy seeing a black bass on his. LOL!

I agree. I don't want a book full of bass certificates.

Now if those guys really wanted to keep the fish alive all they had to do was ask someone close to weight it. After all I was with in 25 yards of them when they caught it and they never once tried to ask if I had a scale. Just sayin, I had 3 scales one that goes to 110. Thanks for the update Salsa

Having fun is hard work sometimes! Not the biggest but big enough!

Yup, most likely this would have been the original fry placed in the lake in '89. Biologist pointed that out to me earlier. Pretty cool when ya think bout it. That fish has seen a lot of things, and has been under your boat and my boat probably ever seen most of us have fished ole "t" And, a couple of ya'll have prob caught her. Hopefully she has many siblings from that same year still swimming around.
