Looking for the kind of line and what pound test you use for both main lines and leader lines.

I use 20 pound Red Label or InvisX main line.20 pound big game clear mono for leader. 1ounce egg weight 1 red glass bead, 1 brass clacker, 1 Spro swivel, and a Gammy 3/0 light wire hook.

Question. We all know flouro sinks and mono floats. But when we are only talking a leader between 18" and 3 feet long, do you think the mono leader makes that big of a difference on slowing the fall of the bait? I'm referring to those using a flouro main line, not braid.

I use 12#-20# Sunline Shooter for both lines (main line & leader)
My line size depends on the water clarity and the cover I'm fishing.

If you are not a "C-Rig Pro" (and I am NOT!) then using Braid mainline gives you better sensitivity and the Mono leader allows the line to float and help you lure to float. It also has more stretch than Fluoro. However if you have "finicky" fish you might have to go to a Fluoro leader to keep from spooking them. Just remember to loosen your drag slightly because the Braid won't stretch as much and you run the risk of breaking your leader on the hookset. Loosening the drag slightly will compensate and still allow for a good hook set on the fish.
Using Braid mainline also allows you to get back most of your tackle if you get hung up. The leader will break before the mainline and you save the weight/bead/swivel and only have to replace the hook or the leader.

20 pound InvisX floro for mainline with 15lb mono leader, I tend to use a 24-30" leader.

Anybody else just slide one or two carolina keepers up the line and not use a different leader line?

Braid is easy maintenance for the main line but remember to choose a leader that goes with the body of water that you are fishing. Also keep in mind that a mono leader will keep your bait up higher than a floro leader. There are lakes that I use a 10 pound leader and others where I will use a 17 pound leader. The smaller line diameter will result in more strikes if you can get away with it. If you throw a C-Rig often pre-make leaders with the hooks already on them and then put them in a small worm bag. This is an easy way to adjust on the fly.
