how do i hook up the gps to my Lowranc unit if I am taking it out of the network. Is there a cable to buy to hook it directly into the unit from the puck? The puck is the LGC-3000 with a short pig tail with the wrong end to connect into the unit directly. Help???

Yes and no
First we need to know which lowrance unit to properly answer the question.
An lxc/lms style etc you can attach directly with a pig tail.
An hds you will need a network starter kit(nema 2000) and an adapter from old style network to new style.
Or if you have an old style network and lg3000 and an hds you will need to put the adapter there.
But if its an hds I would t bother with a 3000 series puck

its the lcx 28 and the lgc 3000 puck. it was hooked up throught the network system and with the in dash LMf 400. but I took all that out and the lcx28 wont read the puckl hooked into the T connector. Was wondering if it would be a problem since there is no longer a network and I could hook it direct without the T to see if it will work or if the puck went out? It was working when i pulled it out.

No not on lxc models, the lxc will power the puck directly through the pigtail cord without a network backbone or powernode(power nodes are only needed on hds models)

The cable is referred to as a built in transistor cable. It looks just like a backbone or a drop cable but has 120 ohm stamped (written) on the ends. I had one between my lms-520c and lgc 3000 transponder puck and don't use it any more with current network setup.
