I love seeing pictures of huge bass that are caught during guide trips as much as the next guy, but it really bothers me to see these big girls being held up by their bottom jaw, with one hand, while posing for pictures. I wish these guides would teach/strongly encourage their clients to support the tail end of these big fish. This shows a little respect for the sport and the fish, but more importantly, increases the chance for the fish to resume it's life in the water in the exact same condition as it was before it latched on to your bait. Same goes for the pros on TV who reach into their sack and yank out their two biggest fish and fling them around by the jaw for all to see. Maybe I'm just getting a little overly sensitive/cautious as I get older, but it sure does bother me. I would like the young kids to see pics of proper handling more often, so they don't think that one hand is the only, and correct, way to handle a big bass. Anyone agree... disagree... got anything to add?

Well you won't have to worry about seeing me do that to a huge bass. I don't think the minnows care one way or the other

Anyone agree... disagree... got anything to add? I take pictures of bass holding the up with one hand but I as well as everyone else I fish with do it so as to be sure that they are straight up and down so that the weight of the fish is not put on the jaw of the fish. They are perfectly healthy when released.

I think you can file a complaint at the TPWD webpage. Most likely it will be filed in the priority trashbox. Afterall, if you look at the skeleton of a bass- the largest part is the head/jaw area. I bet if you held them up by the tail it would do more damage!

So I take it that there is no need to consider the health of the fish that you are about to put back in the water, in your opinion? No precautions should be taken?

Does it harm the fish when we set the hook hard or use braided line or jerk them out of cover?
I do my best to hold most large fish up by supporting them with both hands, but at some point I'm going to hold the fish upright to remove the bait or lip him.

I don't think anyone is saying that. What they are saying is this subject has been debated ad nauseam on here. No need to beat a dead horse.
