Making repairs on fiberglass is easy and takes little time. The bad part is allowing exposed glass to get wet. You can buy a fiberglass repair kit at most auto part stores and boat dealers 1. Grind out all contaminated glass. 2. Sand the inside of the hull well to remove all bad material then wipe wit a rag damp with acetone. 3. cut at least three paches of heavy fiberglass cloth at least 3 inches larger than the hole. 4. Mix resin and hardner as instructed (Wearing latex gloves and eye protection) wet one layer at a time and wet the area around the hole. 5. Lay the glass on the inside of the hull being carefull to work out ALL air bubbles. 6. When the first layer starts to kick off repeat the process with the other two paches. 7. Move to the outside cut three paches with the first one the size of the repair the second a bit smaller and the third smaller yet. wet them and lay them in the hole to fill it with the largest one going on first then work out. 8. When cured sand the area being carefull to sand the outer side of the repair paches lightly and th smooth out the outer surface. 9. Mix a batch of marine filler and apply to fill the repair. When it kicks off sand flush. 10. Use a straight edge and pencile to check for low areas and fill them. Sand flush. 11. Prime the area with an epoxy primer and wet sand. 12. Paint with epoxy paint. You can have the color matched at an auto paint store. Some can even put it in a spray can for you or use a touch up sprayer. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS ON ALL PRODUCTS AND WEARE EYE PROTECTION AND A BREATHING MASK.

PS: Never use polyester over epoxy. You can use epoxy over polyester. A great boat paint is a two part polyester. You mix it and apply with an airless aprayer. It will dry dust free in amout 10 min. but let it cure at least 72 hrs before exposing it to water. It will give you a high gloss finish that seals fiberglass gell coat and protects it from the uv.
