Who runs an HB side imaging transducer on the trolling motor and how does it work for you? Thinking about putting a bigger graph on the front.

I used to, for me I didn't like it too much. It does work but I did not use it much. On the other hand a friend uses it regular.

I use HB SI at the bow with a trolling motor mounted SI transducer. I use the SI view all the time and add other views occasionally.
It is the best shallow water tool you can have other than the 360.

Since the display will be farther away from you at the bow, a larger display model is better.

I don't have a Humminbird but I run SI 99% of the time. I wouldn't buy a graph that didn't have SI ever again.

I run a HB 998 on the bow. With a little practice you can use the side imaging to scan structure in front of the boat by moving the foot pedal. I love having side scan up.front

Thanks everyone. Have a 998 at the console and always turn the disploy around so I can see it at the front of the boat. Tired of having sore neck at the end of the day looking backwards to see the structure. Considering getting another 998 for the front and putting the Si on the trolling motor just wasnt sure how easy it was to use the TM moving around.

I was thinking of doing the same thing except getting a 1199 for the console and moving the 998 to the bow. Will sure need a tranducer saver as it is not uncommon to get into treetops or even scrape bottom when shallow water fishing. I guess you just have to remember that the SI will be perpendicular to the direction of the trolling motor.

I guess it depends on what you fish for???? I'm strictly crappie and for me, down imaging is much more important than side imaging. Just sayin...

SI works best around 3mph doesn't it? Thats pretty fast on the tm. I just use the down imaging.

No, it works best between zero and 10 mph. It's adjustable for the boat speed.

Even sitting still I can still see what's to the sides of me with SI on the TM.
