I'm no pro but I say 1 hour 2 tops, but everything comes in to play when a decision to move is made. Whats the wind doing, or are you fishing an area that is wind protected, how much traffic is in the area, how many fish you we're spotting on your fish finder when you decided to stop and fish, was there bait in the area. Bunch of things, but there really is no set time. If you watch your fishfinder like a hawk every trip and spend a bunch of time on the water doing just that, knowing the time to move on the water will become a more easy decision. Anyways, I think you need to move pardner. Roll on outta dere.

This is why fishing guides can be so hard to beat at times. Time on the water probing and watching their fishfinder. I'm not saying they can't be beat and they never have but it does make it tougher on the weekender.

+1..Also during the spawn(the latter part) I notice that the bites come in waves so at that time I give it almost an hour. That's just me though.

I'll mention something about there being no fish in the area and say we need to move. That's usually when I get a bite. If not, 45-60 minutes.

I've been setting in the same spot for two months, That being said really you have to trust your gut, I'm not leaving an area jus because the fishing has slowed down, if you deer hunt you will understand what I'm about to say, I'm fishing a area where I can fish three different depts, 2,7, 15 ft I consider this a stansition area , if the fish are feeding in the shallow I have some baits there if they are moving in or out of shallow water I have bait in 5-7 ft and if they are in the deeper water 10-15 I have baits there. Also I am fishing near a creek channel which I would call a travel corridor and feeding area.

Depends on time of year for me....in spring 15 minutes, dead of winter maybe an hour depending on conditions.
Ask yourself this.....if you want to catch 20 fish in a 4 hour trip how many do you need to catch per hour? 5.....which is a fish every 12 minutes. In the spring it is nothing to catch 30, 40, 50, 60 or even 100 fish in just a few hours, a fish every 3-5 mins is what you are looking for. Winter a good day of trophy fishing might be 10 fish in 8 hours or more. But, all 10 of those could come in a 30 minute span.

If it'sbeen a tough day fishin.... do i want to pull that 30# box anchor lol!

It helps to have spots that you have confidence in which those spots come from time on the water. I have spots in shallow, Deep and in between places that I know I can go to and catch fish just about any time I want. I'll at times sit there and wait on the fish if I know they are down there but aren't in a feeding mood. If I hit one of my spots and nothing happens for about 45 minutes I'll go to another of my spots and then circle back and try again later. As someone said there are a lot of factors that come into play and then if all else fails you just have to wait them out.
Just one more cast!
