everything is relative, start out asking if you and buddies can go out drinking, hit the casino, and then finish out at a strip club. when she looks at you in horror, then ask if you can just go fishing.

I have been married all my adult life - 41 years, and 2 wives. I have fished 100 to 300 days a year and raised 2 boys that love to fish with ole Dad. My wives loved to boat on weekends - drive around the lake slowly in our little pontoon boat drinking adult beverages. But, put them in my Ranger Bass Boat and hit the throttle - they were not interested in that kind of boating or fishing. Now, for sure my boys loved it! So I took them as often as I could and that gave Mom some needed "me" time for her to play.

So we sat down and had a serious discussion about my love of fishing and what would work "time wise" for her and the boys(real young kids). Back then I got to fish 1 tourney a month and then one other Friday and Saturday fishing trip. Home on Sunday with family. We made that work.
Point is: Sit down and talk through what you each need from each other to stay in love. COMPROMISE, PLAN AHEAD and COMMUNICATE with her. (and give her any winnings you bring home! ) banana

Roll over early in the morning and say "Fishing or Sex". You'll get to go everytime.

You don't need excuses, just a set of cahones. Tell her your going, and if she starts naggin tell her she sounds just like your ex-wife. If she says she didn't know you had an ex wife....Tell her you don't........Yet......

+2 on the fishing or sex choice. It works 90% of the time.

Needing to find something to tell the wife a story to be able to get on the water is fraught with problems. A peaceful discussion with the significant other letting them know what your fishing passion really is usually greatly increases understanding. My love of fishing is what gets me out of bed in the morning and my wife knows it. She acknowledged as much on our second date. That was in 1998. I took her from Florida to Houston the other day to see her sisters. I missed a tourney as a result. I didn't whine in the least. I allowed her to enjoy her trip. Hotel rooms were $150 minimum but that's how she likes to enjoy herself. I support that even though a $70 room is fine with me. We had a good trip. When we got back home a few days later she had to have unexpected retina surgery. I've had to help her and take complete care of everything including my grandson who lives with us. I missed another tournament. I never brought it up. I just do what is in my lap and still try to plan ahead. My wife and I support each other. I am looking to upgrade to a newer motor for my boat and the wife is insisting I purchase new. I like that. We both know what is important to each other and respect that.

As far as the sex or fishing thing, long ago I told my wife that there was only one thing my boat and fishing couldn't provide, hence my need for her. It didn't go over very well LOL.

She fishes with me half dozen times a year and sometimes more.

I always ask mine if she wants to go, 25% of the time she will go, usually on real nice days only.
And I enjoy her going, she don't get into it very much, but never grips because I'm going.

She will always ask me if I want to go shopping, you guessed it guys, about 25% usually less though.
Depending if she's going close to an outdoor/fishing store, lol

All in all, it works out great for me.
I do fish alone mostly, me an my yellow lab.
Y'all guys holler at me if you see me an my lab at Harvey Creek ramp.
Have a camp close to there!
Life is always good on Rayburn!!

Good luck with those wife's an the fishing!!!

Are y'all for real? I'd be super embarrassed if my other half came on here talking about me like this. (he's on here a lot btw) It's really not funny or cute to diss your wives on a public forum.

Have you ever thought of including your wife/girlfriend in fishing? Three years ago I was as girly as they come. (a sorority girl that knew her way around the mall and that was about it) Luckily(thankfully!!) my boyfriend didn't share y'all's same opinion of me or I'd have never discovered the love of fishing that I now embrace. Today we spend just about every night in our shop piddling with something in the boat together. We fish on average 40-45 weekends a year and enter probably 25 tournaments a year, of which we do our fair share of check cashing. The greatest thing is, when there are two salaries contributing to a hobby you can allocate a whole lot more towards fishing. We have some really nice fishing toys that we've acquired since I started fishing!

So instead of bad mouthing your wives and trying to figure out how to trick them to get out of the house, why don't y'all try to include them? Teach her to fish! And I don't mean just giving her a c-rig to drag behind the boat. You never know what you might discover. I realize some of you may have kids, we are fortunate enough to not have children yet, but get a sitter and take momma fishing!

You realize that under your sig, you are labeled "outdoorsMAN"? I guess that will be the subject of your next lecture. I'm thinking that this thread was just for fun. It'll be okay.
