Until recently, I did a lot of long, one day trips (like 400 mile round trips). From San Antonio to Falcon for example. I think doing that regularly got me pretty fair at figuring out patterns quickly so honestly I rarely get skunked. But I do have a bunch of 1 or 2 dink days which hardly make a 20 hour day, 200 dollar plus trip seem like it was worth it.

I guess with me it was according to two factors really, what body of water I was on and what time of year it was..........I had lakes that it seemed like no matter how many times I fished it I got skunked and lakes and rivers at certain time of the year I could do no wrong but still even on some of my favorite most productive bodies of water I would still manage to get skunked every once in a while.......

I rarely get skunked, but seems ever more rarely catch a limit of keepers.

Never and I only catch double digit fish and only have 2 drinks a week....

Got skunked on a trip to Palestine the end of January. First time on the lake and the first skunk in a long while.

I fish a LOT and I wander around to Palestine, Tyler, Fork, Martin, Athens, Bob Sandlin, and some others I can't think of. This last year, Fork has gotten me twice (still had a couple more that I only caught 1 or 2 fish), Tyler has gotten me probably 5 times over the winter, and Palestine got me once.

It doesn't happen often in the summer.

I am a firm believer you can still catch fish in winter. Funny thing is I do not hold true to my own belief. I will confess, I would say out of ten trips in winter, I get skunked on 7 to 9 of them. I mainly fish small ponds though. In spring and fall however, I can usually catch a limit on every trip. Summer, out of ten trips, I usually get skunked on 1 to 3 of them.

I fish an average of 1-2 times a weeks on typically 1 of 4 tidal rivers. I would say true skunked 1 out 15 trips. Its pretty easy to catch at least some short bass or various saltwater fish (redfish)

I think it happens to everybody out there at some point no matter how good they are......If you look at the weigh in leader boards on BASS or FLW even the top guys struggle on some bodies of water and some do get skunked. Case in point G'man and Chris Lane at the Classic this year. I would have bet the farm they both would have finished in the top 10 every day of the tournament and they got hammered......

Seems like a lot this winter,finally caught 3 on cypress last sat. Before that 0 on sandlin, 0 on the pines,and 0 on winnsboro. More than I would like to admit......lol

Was sure hopin not to have to eat my words from the other day it was touch an go this mornin on Benbrook . Fished from 9 am till 1pm got bite one time in 12 ft water on zoom trick 16in bass.water temp still low50s.was goin to Whitney but report was Kimble closed

Fished for 4 hours with a guide in North Florida so many swings in weather and the amount of freshwater has made it very tough to fish,rain rain cold two days of nice,fish in 20+ foot it needs to change fast.

Lake Worth, water temp was just right, 65 degrees in the shallows...
and ZERO BITES! NADA! ZIP! Arghhhhhhhhhhhh

DFW metro lakes seem to have my number as well but that is because the ones that I have fished I've only fished once or twice, Lewisville, Grapevine, Ray Hubbard, and Joe Pool all goose eggs. Doubt I'll ever get back on them because of traffic hassles.........
