I got a partner that I fish some tournaments with. We done alright sometimes and zero'd others. He is hung up on warp speed fishing and running and gunning around the lake. We have had some great pre-fish days but sometimes it doesn't carry over to tourney. I tell him we need to slow way done and fish smaller areas more thorough. This will work for him about half hour then he is all over the trolling motor. Last tournament went from cloudy practice to blue skies tournament day. Before I drag this out any further, I was gonna pitch him overboard, but figured it would just get ugly from there.
Anyone out there ever pitched his partner overboard on purpose?

you just need to find someone you mesh with for the situation, training doesn't work.
when I backseat I try to adapt 100% to the boater, that might just be my coangling background. I just consider them the captain and if they ask for suggestions I will offer it if valid.
when I'm boater and fun fishing I will take the lead and offer my plan as a suggestion and then be open minded during the day. I only have a problem when the backseater starts acting like a boater and they don't take suggestions. This is recent problem I had buddy with good bass experience and his boat long before I had mine, we got along great with him boating. Well now when he backseats me I can't stand it, he's not flexible, complete [censored], I just don't think he has any clue manners fishing from back of boat.
when I'm boater team tournaments I try to go about it 50-50 as one team. it is near impossible to train, so best just to find partner that thinks and fishes like you do.

We just need another day where it's raining, lightning, and thundering........and a dead battery when we're ready to weigh in! Jim

Anyone out there ever pitched his partner overboard on purpose? Both techniques work on different days and sometimes/often need both techniques on the same day. Search then concentrate when after you locate. The trick is partnering with someone that you can both be open to a "plan". It is frustrating for both when each wants to always be doing something differently. If we aren't open to change we need a partner that is as "one dimensional" as us! :-)
