I have tried and tried to find these, does anyone remember seeing something like this:

tear-shaped
painted yellow
hole on the top part for a rope
4, I think they were aluminum prongs about 4-5 in. long, these caught the brush and hung on until
you pulled it the prongs straighten out and released the anchor, you could bend them back into shape
and this weighted about 5 lbs maybe, about as big around as a coffee cup.

I know what your thinking, well this guy has finally lost it, I was just wondering if they were still around I think they were call "The Original Brush Anchor"

My Dad made brush anchors back in the 60's. They were real simple. It was 2 or 3 welding rods and a piece of about 2"x 3"-5" long pipe. The rods were bent in half, passed through the pipe so you could tie the rope to them, then the ends are bent up. They would straighten out when pulled up. he always carried extra rods in case one broke. They worked real good.

Not to haze hackles here, but anchoring IN the brush piles, by what ever method eventually destroys them. I have found favor in using marker bouys placed a few yards into the wind side of pile and using trolling motor. Most guys I know favor this technique as well.

Food for thought.

any mechanical engineers here? I have a good idea, but dont know how to design it,.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
