We are going on a family camping trip in 3 weeks to either Granger or Lake Georgetown. I have never been to either and can't find anybody who has. We were going to Colorado Bend but I understand there is little to no water there. We will have a bunch of kayaks to fish out of but no motor boats. I've looked on here as much as possible and just can't find a whole lot happening at either lake. Our preferred species to target are white bass and catfish, crappie good too but again we are in kayaks and not able to fly all over the lake. Also if you have any experience for campgrounds at either of these places, good or bad, please let me know. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Gtn's water is 15 ft low - Granger is full. Water temps still pretty cold but in 3 weeks should be warming up. Fishing reports currently sketchy.

With Gtn's water so low there's no water in the headwaters for a white bass run upriver.

Watch for white bass reports on the San Gabriel River or Willis Creek which form Granger. If water temps continue to increase the whites should start showing up there before long.

Granger's water is much more murky than Gtn due to runoff from blackland prairie farming operations around the lake. Gtn is a deeper rocky lake with steeper shorelines. Granger is also a more open lake and subject to high wind.

Both lakes are Corps of Engineer lakes so all campgrounds are Corps campgrounds. Some may be open - some not. Info available at Corp web sites for each lake so call to find out latest campground info. I've never camped in them but have driven past them enough times over the years to say that they appear to be normal COE campgrounds.

Willis Creek would be good park to camp and use kayaks in.

Looks like Willis Creek is the spot. Is there anywhere around that area to bank fish for catfish or to set out any juglines ? Thanks for all of the help and I think that looks like a great place for the trip. Just hope the weather is good now.

Jug lines are all over the place there so I'd say they are working.
