I have taught high school for 35 years, and see the problem everyday. Money is required for participation in several school activities. Someone will buy an athlete a pair of basketball shoes, or pay a sign up fee for summer ball, or pay for a cheer leader uniform. Not many folks are lining up to buy a bass boat for a fishing team. My advice for this student is to find all local bass clubs to get in front of and talk to the whole group. Explain your situation, and offer your services (that means WORK) to any member in trade for being a boat captain for your tournaments. You could mow their yard, clean their windows in their house, clean out gutters, all kinds of stuff. Their wife can think of all kinds of stuff for you to do, cause they are fishing all the time. You might be surprised at what would happen. Adults love to see an ambitious teenager who not only will talk to adults in an intelligent manner, but also be willing to work for something. Good luck and don't give up!

I am the advisor for a HS club and when we first started I thought boats would be an issue, but it has not been at all. Yes some of the parents have boats, but I have also had people from the community volunteer to captain. Churches are a great place to look. I have found that is the students themselves will just put boots on the ground people will come to help out any way they can.

There is a 3500 skeeter in the classifieds on this site that would be perfect for you.

That is one clean boat for the price!!!

This is what highschool fishing teams need, not 21' 250 powered rigs.

An ambitious highschool kid should be able to work a summer and pick up one of those on his own easy.

I'm thinking about coaching a team here at Cooper High School in Cooper, Texas even though I don't have a child in high school. I just see it as my way of paying it forward. The Lord has blessed me in so many ways.....

Go for it, I know having a team at my school is a great way to teach kids about bass fishing and kindle the sport. Hope to see you guys on the water!

That needs to change. IMO!!

Best of luck in your search!!

Plenty of DFW guys on here, hopefully one can help you out!

Im a college angler and my tournament partner and I fish out of an 18ft xpress flatbottom. We show up at tournaments and get funny looks cause everyone is in "daddys" bass boat, we get even funnier looks when we bring in fish to weigh and they zeroed for the day.

Doesnt matter what kind of boat you have, as long as it meets "regulations" youre good to go.

I helped out one of the Wills Point HS kids a few weeks ago, I dont mind helping any HS team out, as long as theyre grateful and polite. Im in an aluminium boat with a 90hp 4 stroke, its not fast, nor pretty and she'll beat you to death if its windy, but you can fish out of it. Weve had it out on Lake Fork and Falcon in 25 mph winds.

Good luck to you, feel free to PM me and I will help out when possible, trying to get my old AG teacher to start a team at my old high school so im not driving 2 hours to another high school.
+1 Good for you! doesn't matter what boat
