This happened a few years ago. I arrived,as planned,at my partner's house at 4 AM. I almost beat his door down trying to rouse him until I discovered that it wasn't locked. I walked in- he was asleep in his reclining chair. Apparently, he went to a bar and stayed up all night- said everybody kept buying him drinks and he couldn't turn it down. I finally got him in my truck and he was snoring before we hit he highway. We drove, in silence to the boat ramp. He was backing the boat in and ran off the edge of the ramp, putting a dent in my fender. We started fishing...about 30 mins, and decided to move to another area. I noticed the boat was sluggish. I opened the rear access hatch and the bottom of the boat was full of water. The bilge pump had broken and water was pouring in! I raced the boat back to the ramp and put it back on the trailer. My partner wasn't worried- he found a tree to lean against and went to sleep. I searched around in my tool box looking for something to stop the hole with. I finally shoved the cap of a permanent marker in the hole and we were back in business-sort of. I had to wake him up first. We pulled up in a cove and started fishing. My partner climbed up on the back pedestal seat and threw his line in. That was all for him- he was snoring again dragging his line. I didn't say anything- just kept fishing. I caught three good fish and put them in the livewell. I didn't tell him I caught anything- I was getting pretty upset at this point. He finally woke up and fished the rest of the day, but didn't do any good. Toward the end of the tourny, we headed back to the ramp. I beached the boat and opened the livewell to pull out my fish and he just stared. I weighed the fish and then jumped back in the boat and told him to go get the truck. I was waiting in the boat for about 20 mins wondering what was going on- where was my partner? I beached the boat and walked to the truck. He was sitting at the wheel with the ac going and was asleep. Then I discovered that we had a flat on the truck! I changed the tire(with no help from him) and finally got the boat loaded. We headed home. About halfway home I had a flat on my trailer and had to change that by myself too.I finally made it back to his house. I didn't talk to him all the way home. He never got a call from me again!

Sounds like a pre trip inspection might be in order.

that sucks! My partner seems to fish a little better after a long night out. LOL some of the stories I could tell!

I was fishing a tourney on Bonham one time and hooked up with a toad that would have went over 11 lbs. easy, and I was yelling at my partner to get the net get the net, the fished jumped two or three times and I got her to the boat did he get the fish in the boat no, after the second late swing at the net she got wraped around the trolling motor and pop goes the line. I was pisssssssed I almost threw him in the lake for that, moral of the story he never fished another tourney with me.

I took a friend camping and fishing in Arkansas with me years ago. He stayed up drinking most of the night before we left so he slept basically all the way there. He was broke so I bought all the beer, which he stayed up all night every night drinking.

I was awakened by thunder in the middle of one night. He was still sitting by the campfire, hammered, when I said something about the storm. He said, "Dude, we're under a severe thunderstorm warning. They're saying on the radio there are tornadoes all over the place." I asked at what point he intended to wake me up and reminded him that most of our supplies were going to get wet, maybe ruined, if we didn't get them in the tent or truck. I ended up carrying almost all of it, the last load just as the bottom fell out and with lighting popping all around me.

We were there three days and he never set foot in the boat with me because he was hung over and it was "too hot".

I never invited him on another fishing trip.

I fished plenty of tournaments with friends that were hung over from the night before and they did well. They fished much slower than normal and seemed to be more concerned about making it thru the day than catching fish.
