I like to see the best in the world have a challenge, and this would be a good venue for that.

If we just want slugfest, send them to Falcon for the Classic and weigh in in Laredo! bannana2 boxing

Any non power plant lake north of Austin would be a challenge in February

A Classic in Texas sure would be great to attend and watch on TV! Nothing like putting the best anglers in the world on a lake with big bass!

No where near big enough for weigh in and Expo. Also not enough hotels. The host fee for the Classic is a monster number including incentives (approx 500k) It's going to take a Dallas or Houston location to afford that. Dallas with fishing on Texoma is certainly no farther than the last two angler commutes but still a long way.

Ray Roberts....weigh in could be in Denton or at the Allen Convention center.

Zman, did you read the post from Mark Jones above? Do you really think Denton is gonna shell out that kind of cash?

Allen shells out $500,000 regularly to host events? I just learned something.

Bassmasters requires a convention center / expo center to have a seating capacity around 12,000.

That's but one of many criteria. The biggie is the host fee and I seriously doubt Allen will be coughing that up anytime soon.

Allen wouldn't qualify based on the criteria of the size of the facility required. If Allen is willing to "cough" up the host money for the NFL to have an event here as we did last year as well as the NCAA Texas vs. The Nation game, then the BMC or any B.A.S.S Tournament would not be an issue. Its a matter of cost vs. potential revenue generated from such an event. I am involved with several events in our city and have even spoken to someone on the site selection committee for B.A.S.S. personally, and they are in fact trying to exercise options to bring a classic to North Texas.
