This is a little off topic, but I was wondering if anyone here has made the boat ride from Jefferson to Caddo. Any information is appreciated regarding obstructions, hazards, etc...

Thanks,
J

I've run from Caddo up close to Jefferson in my bass boat, but it's been several years. It's easily doable, but I can't offer any current info on the creek.

Just watch out for fallen trees in the river and sandbars (in the bends) the closer you get to Jefferson.

I made it several times last summer. As long as there aren't any fresh trees down, it's a great ride. It's real nice in the summer because most of it is shaded.

Nice ride! There used to be a large oak just south of Jefferson but it was still passable (as of late fall).

There are some oxbows that may give you a question going towards Jefferson, but pay attention to the current and you'll be fine.

There is one spot where there's an island and a couple of trees in the middle of the river. If you're going up-river, go to the LEFT of the island. I've never been on the other side, but I've always heard stay left and always done it.

I fish Big Cypress year round from Jefferson to Caddo. The river has plenty of water right now. Hasn't been this high in a while. You should not have any problem right now. It is a great ride fishing or not.
