If you had to guess do you think there is a Monster 17-18 Lb bass lurking somewhere in Lake Fork, or hell maybe even a few, or do you think even 1 or 2 of those in there are a thing of the past ?

There is absolutely a 17 or 18, maybe bigger in that lake.

Didn't somebody on this forum catch a 15 or 16 last year?

Plus every year Cameron posts about a huge one and one day his jokes will make it so.

I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

I think 17-18lb plus bass swim in more than a couple of Texas lakes. They don't get that big on accident.

There probably are. There are probably potential state records in several TX lakes.
They're big Floridas that love deep water....probably venture up to 10-12ft to spawn for about a week, and spend the rest of their time in 25-40 ft, where only crappie fishermen dare to tred.

Caution:
-camouflage cottonmouths
-stumps are perpetually 4" under surface
-unforecast windstorms
-gators that act funny
-game wardens off their meds

I guarantee there's at least a few in there. But they're almost impossible to catch. . .that's why they get that big.

I understand your reasoning, but how do they eat? I think we give fish w/a pea sized brain way too much credit. Genetics and forage make big fish. A lot of pressure on Fork not to see some of these 17+. Plus, we talk about reaction strikes all the time; are big fish w/o reaction? JMHO

It wouldn't suprise me at all to hear of a 17-18 lb bass being caught any day during the next month. I caught one close to 25lbs and it wouldn't fit in my livewell. So I released it....then I woke up and went to work! Seriously, I believe there are a few over 17 lbs in Fork.
