I am new to fishing for white bass. Can anyone give me your opinion on what are some good baits to throw for sandies. I am usually a fan of chunkin and winding but am up for learning new techniques. Thanks Aggie Josh

Depends on which -creek,river or lake? Each one is a little different for white bass or crappie ..water clarity, temps, clear, dark stained, spawning, schooling shoreline points etc..

depends on the lake. When in doubt chartreuse and white wont do you wrong.

I fish on Joe pool lake. Didn't know if you could use swim baits, spinner baits or do you need to stay with smaller lures? I don't know a lot about using spoons but I heard those work as well

Hi aggie josh, Ok...right now You fish in Joe Pool Lake.. Lake -find the white bass by your fish graph you have in your boat..You may drop down live minnows to them at located depth...drop down chartreuse or chartreuse/white 3/4 oz.slab at fish depth..or drop it down to bottom and burn it back to you or let it hit bottom and real up three to five turns and raise your rod up and down jerking motion.Slight bend in slab to give it more action.. or ...cast a #4 mepps spinner or #3 meppes spinner past school..let sink to bottom and real back through school..or a little george tail spinner is good. There are so many techniques you can use..A road runner spinner with red head grub body ,marabou tail is good to cast in school or work through it. I like a 3" to 4"sassy shad or tiny fluke in chartreuse or pearl with little larger jig head- drop straight down into school ..make sure your bait is tied where it lays tied flat straight when you drop it down. Shore line fishing-- Meps #3 spinner silver blade.brass body, orange tube on hook, Little george tail spinner in -chrome, or chartreuse Small countdown Rapala in black back silver/white lower body Tiny flukes hook through top head 18" below split shot.. 8# test line is plenty..

I can't believe that this old aggie has to thank a red raider but thank you for that info. I will try it all. One question every talks about fishing the humps any info on that

White bass in the lake will hit just about everything. My favorite lake bait is a white curly grub with a pink road runner jig head. For creek crappie I like a lunker city tiny fluke with a jig head or a bare size #4 drop shot hook. Truth be told a white bass will hit anything he can get into his mouth.

Re "humps" - go to the 1st link in MtnDew's answer. One of the sections there is about fishing structures, such as humps, on Texas lakes.

Dennis, I've been making spinner baits like you use. Can you tell me what you think of hair tied on the trebble hook? I notice in your video you use one with a red tube on the hook shaft. Thank you,
John

This shape is, by far, our biggest seller. Like the others have mentioned though, technique/presentation, location, water temp and clarity are equally (if not more) important.

When I'm on the lake hunting sandies, or even hybrids, you'll rarely ever find me without a rattle trap tied onto a rod. If the fish are at a depth where you can put it in front of them, few lures will work any better. Several will be just about as good, but none are hands down, better. Cannot go wrong with a chrome rattle trap when the fish are in the upper part of the water column.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!
