For 3 years now my family and I camp out for the weekend so my daughters can fish the WORD kid fish tournament the 18th annual. And it's a blast. This years event held today at camp huaco springs on the Guadalupe river. Over 3000 attended half of them youth anglers rod and reel in hand ready to catch a fish for a trophy given for longest fish caught in 3 places in 4 different age groups.
My girls had a great day on the river and gave each other a stiff competition they held 1st and second place for a good while. But at the end it was a shoot out with 3 place changes in the last 10 minutes in there division. My youngest mea was knocked out of 3rd place with 3 mins. To go by a 1/4". Her older sister destinie held on to second place and a tagged trout for $25. This is destinies 3rd consecutive finish 2nd place or better in the WORD kid fun fish event. I couldn't of been a prouder father today as I watched my girls fish with the passion and love of the sport fishing as I do. With all I have taught them over the years as they carefully fished with poise and confidence and solid quick hook sets it all came out today as they were catching and carefully releasing trout like a well oiled machines. A great day on the river a memory they will never forget. And the smiles on there face were priceless and that made me feel like the biggest winner of all today with my 2 best fishing partners.......
