I'd divide Spring into prespawn water temp <55 and spawn water temp >60 Prespawn-- Lipless crankbaits, jerkbaits, jigs with pork trailers, crank baits slow are my favorites Spawn--drop shot plastics is my go to.

My go to bait for spring is watching the pigs destroy top water baits along the banks! But if I can't get them to come up a Baby Brush Hog will do the job👍

You are right. Sorry, LOL, I'm learning here. Should be about four choices I think. I was including lizard in the 'creature' category but, I did not allow for spinnerbaits either....my bad!! You need far more than 2 choices.
Mine is a t rigged 6" lizard.

Jig is my first choice. If I can get them to eat a jig during the spring that's what I will be throwing. All I need is five bites.

Jig, ok. Now when we about to enter (I hope) the spring spawn? Jig is my first choice. If I can get them to eat a jig during the spring that's what I will be throwing. All I need is five bites.
