A recent trip with me pulling 2 17# box anchors convinced me I'm too old for this *&%#. I was thinking about mounting an anchor winch to use to pull up the anchors. I would like to have something with a cathead so I could just wrap the rope and let the motor pull up the anchor. But, I can't find anything less than ~ $600 and most of them are too big and bulky to mount on my boat. I found a place that sells just a capstan drum, nut I'm not sure what electric motor might work with it. It would have to be 12v, small and waterproof.
Does anyone know where a unit might be bought reasonably.
Or has anyone tried to build something like this? If so, I would appreciate any advice.
