Oh and BTW, Kaufman is pretty close to some gnarly lakes to fish in....I don't think you will be disappointed

For me, I like using lighter weight spinning rods for whites. Haven't had much luck catching hybrids, but I usually target them with medium action rods and a decent baitcast reel like a revo. Welcome to Tx, glad to have you! Best state in the world!

Never lived in Texas. Been doing research.

As for the post count. I'm disabled and don't/can't work. I have a lot of time on my hands.

Semper Fi Streetwalker!

My cousin lives up there in the northwest. He has problems down here in the summer. You may have some difficulty adjusting to the furnace here in the summer. However, once you get half-baked like the rest of us, you'll be fine. :-)

Air conditioning.

But I'm going to have to adjust. I sweat at the drop of a hat.

We got no sturgeon, but you can bait fish for alligator gar with the same rig.

Do you fly fish any? Some great bream lakes around here.

I use the same set up for whites as I use for crappie. A medium or medium light action rod with with a 1000 or 2000 size spinning reel spooled with 4 to 6lb line. I use the same set up for hybrids and largemouths. A medium to medium heavy action rod with a baitcaster or 3000 series spinning reel. Spool it with 12-14 lb test and your good to go.
