So I got a Bass Pro catalog in the mail yesterday and began my annual spring/summer lure selection process. I know we all have our favorite go-to lures and colors and its hard to convince us to use something else. Several years ago I started letting my wife and small daughter(shes 5 now) select a few lures / colors and without fail they would always pick a color pattern far from what I would. I make it a point to always use their lures and it never ceases to amaze me how I always caught fish on their picks (cow pattern frogs?). It allows us something to do together and gets us as all excited about spring fishing. Does anyone else do anything similar? Its good to step outside our box sometimes.

That sounds so wrong! Lol like it shouldn't be aloud to happen But it's definitely going to be interesting to see what my girlfriend chooses for me to use! Haha thanks for the idea

There is some truth to your experience from what I've seen! My daughter picked some winners from the tackle isle through the years.

Love that! A couple of years ago, each of my kids and granddaughters picked out a fly from BPS to give me for Fathers Day. Loved fishing with them and taking pics of fish caught to share with them.
Also, I have a bucket of soft plastics purchased from Cabelas that my granddaughters love to "worm" through whenever they are here. Their favorite "toy" but they don't want me to fish with any of them!
This might be the weirdest, most pointless post ever. I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering fishing

My son (6) always gets me a lure for Father's day or Christmas, and more often than not, he picks winners...with no assistance from anyone. Love using the lures he pics for me.

Goes to show you don't need the latest and greatest Benford 5000 bait. It just need to be pretty.

I miss the old Academy "buffet style" lure bins. I would always stock up like crazy on a bunch of color varieties of jigs and such. Now everything has to be individually packaged
