I went back to calaveras today after 2 hours of sleep after work last night and was rewarded big time. I have never caught a 30 inch plus red even on our place at the landcut. With that said I Landed 3 31 inch plus fish. (freshwater regs are different than salt,no max length on freshwater reds..min 20')
I lost caount of how many I caught but took pics of a bunch..my guess is in the 20's. The third tape mark on my rod is 20 inches..i had on fish that barely made that mark the rest were well over it
the big fish went
34 1/2 inches ..15 pds 6 oz
33 1/2 inches 13 pds 8 oz
31 3/4 inches and 11 pds 9 oz
AWESOME does not do today justice! I cannot wait to go again but I need some sleep..I am having two of these brutes mounted. the other is up to the pocket book. I know there have been bigger caught but these are trophies to me and desrve to on my wall. thanks and here's the pics..talk about fight!

Wow AWESOME CATCHS!! Those fish with barely any sleep,must be tired. When you recover from the coma,did you catch those from a boat,or on the wall at cal?And on what if you dont mind me asking,been trying to get out there but with the water so hot right now,I didn't think the fishing would be to great.

I also want to get a red mounted they are pretty fish. Get some pics when you get them mounted so we can see.

Well david...i got a quote fomr my local guy..$11 an inch or 363 for one fish.
I have abuddy from my hometown that does work. Gonna see if he can cut me a deal. Maybe the two for 500..Still shopping around right now.

I'll hopefully be able to post some pics monday. I still am in awe of these two fish. They were still there...whew! two big brusiers wrapped up waiting to be taken in..I can already seem them on a piece of drift wood..smiling at me ..gotta love it

thanks brain. i appreciate that. I always get a kick at the ramp when guys in thier 40,000 dollar boats ask how i did..in my little 16 ft 60 inch wide monark with my little 30 hrse nissan...I open the cie chest and let em see.
I love fishing compared to hunting becasue hunting has gotten so ridicoouloly $..but a guy in a jon boat has the same chnace as a guy in 40,000 rig and I hope I am proving that on our local waters.
