Crappie Fishermen:

Work had me at Lake Kickapoo and I went by the commercial fishing barge, but did not fish. Two crappie fishermen were there yesterday and neither had caught one fish at 10:30 a.m. and started around 7:00 a.m.
Both said it was to early due to the water level. The west side of the barge is setting high and dry, but the south east corner was 8 feet deep. It looks like it could be a great place when the water warms up for the spawn. Both mentioned that it would be exceptional for the spawn and the barge would fill up with people. There is 4-6 feet of water on the inside wells of the barge with plenty of willow and other trees for those spawners. The water outside the barge might be a little deeper on that south east corner.
Hope this helps someone, I would not recommend going anytime soon, but wait for the water to warm up. In this time of low lake levels, at least this barge gives people a shot at catching some crappie at some point.

Good Fishing,
Mud-Dabber

thanks for the report.
I was thinking of going to check it this spring, but was curious about the water level in the docks since it was getting pretty low last year.

The two older gentlemen, stated that the Lake was near 20 feet low currently. I don't have any idea if that is correct or not, but the ramps that I saw were all completely out of the water, so it is low. If someone knows more accurate information, feel free to post where others will know.
