In my experience kayak color has very little, if any at all, affect on spooking fish. More than likely the fish will react from the shadow of your kayak than its actual color.

So what I'm getting from this thread so far is that my yellow kayak will attract sharks, but is also the fastest color of kayak so I could get away easier? I love this helpful forum.

I have an olive pa 14, great boat you'll love it. I always fly a flag, and whenever I hear a boat coming or I can see him, I stand up. If I think he can see me, I'll give a wave. I keep my eyes on the boat until he sees me, or goes by. Just be aware and never assume he sees you. Try to get wave from him, or peddle like crazy to the nearest bank!

I remember years ago some guy out in California or somewhere fishing offshore stuck or painted a baitball on his hull.

I see a trend... If you fish with pa owner all the time, sooner or later they will go to the dark side.

After owning a sand, olive, mango, and now camo I haven't noticed if anybody can see me better from dark to bright. What I have noticed when looking for friends on the water I can see the darker yaks farther away.

I remember last summer fishing with Henry at Cooper. We were about a mile apart and I could not see his yak on a flat calm day. That was a great day of Hybrid fishing! And Robert, I texted Lee to tell him the big fish were schooling along the dam, so I had disengaged the cloaking device. I didn't really know him very well at the time, but sent the text after I picked up a couple. I remember thinking he was gonna be pretty annoyed if they stopped before he got there! Well, they stayed at it for a couple more hours. No wind at all, so the birds could see it brewing before the water started churning and shad flying out of the water. It was big fun! As far as the color of your PA, they are all kinda bland IMO and there are way to many yellow ones out there! I don't do enough to raise my visibility on the water, but there's some good advice in here. That orange hat Roger wears is real bright and ugly, but it looks pretty good on him...

Do you even remember the color of your kayak behind all the sponsorship stickers and lights?

He looks like a green bay packers fan. Hunting orange is the new state color.

Hat envy is never pretty.
I can say when I've fished with Hank and Lee, I can pick out Lee up to about a mile away but lose Hank at half that distance. If it weren't for Hank's magnetic personality, that might not even be possible. I think PB'ers should be able to pick up a 14' floating piece of plastic within reason regardless of the color but if you go with the more subtle colors, I would definitely make up for it with bright PFD and clothing.
