Found this little fella while cleaning up this morning. First one I have ever seen in the wild that was alive. Seeing as it was relatively close to small children I relocated it safer place for both the kids and the snake. Pretty Cool, EH!

Yes, That is a Coral Snake! Now I can say I have caught 4 different poisenous snakes. I had previously handled Cottonmouths, Eastern Diamondback and Copperheads, and now the Coral. I'm a happy man

Sorry Nebulous, I'm one of those fellas that's willing to let these creatures live. 'Sides, I don't even own a gun. And no, I don't have a thing against gun ownership, just no need for one, since I can't afford to hunt anymore.

The old time saying is: Red and Yellow, Kill a fellow, Red and Black, Friend of Jack. The Red and Black, Venom Lack is relative recent in useage.

I once knew an old black gentleman that called a coral snake a "harlequin snake". He also called cottonmouth "water pilots". Cool picture. I have never seen one in the wild.

Thanks Old Town, Took me 43 years, but I finally was able to personally lay hands on one. I just wanted to be able to say that I had touched/caught the 4 most common venomous snakes in the country. It was pretty COOL! , and the colors were much more vibrant in person. Still think the copperhead is the prettier of the 4 though. Moccasins are just downright ugly snakes.

That's really cool man. I'm still looking for one myself. I'm with you in thinking that copperheads are some of the prettiest snakes around. Congratulations.
