so I want to go out sat or sunday to a new area. Kinda tired of the refuge and want to explore a little. From what I am seeing on the reports it's looking kinda gloomy this year. was planning on hitting up trophy club area but that looks pretty iffy. Anybody point me in the general right direction? I live in lake worth but am willing to travel around the dfw area a bit. just kinda looking for an out of the way spot to enjoy the day and get on some a few fish.

thanks....pm's welcome flehan laugh

Let me endorse this offer! Lee's a great guy to fish with and is really skilled at guiding the rest of us pot lickers to the big fish (huh Rick.. ;-)!

There are several that frequent cooper that are much better than me. Every single one of us have their strength and weakness.

Yes it's worth the drive if you love fishing for stripes species.

I just wish I was one of those lucky ones Lee puts on fish. Roger is "filling the freezer" also by reviewing all the photos on KW. 27 hybrids for the month! Besides a couple of LMB Dinks, I've gone home with nada. Wife even has a funny little running joke about it. Now, I hope to break the slump this weekend at Cooper.

Hope to see some of you guys here this weekend.

Roger is da man for our team! My wife got after him on facebook a week or so ago for not putting enough points up and he's been kicking butt ever since! And yes, she's taking credit...

I've gotta catch something soon! I won't be at Cooper, so good luck to all y'all!

You guys will do well at cooper this weekend - the hybs are turned on - water temp was 50 on Wed - the sandies are already milking. I expect team CC will max out their KW hybs and sandies this weekend. Jerry is going Sunday and even he will catch fish and put MSKFC on the board.

If you've never been to cooper, here's a few suggestions:

Be sure to get the parking pass, otherwise you are guaranteed a ticket.

We've been warned about driving out to the water but use your own judgment. The ranger says they have given tickets for this.

Be prepared to drag or cart to the water - currently it is dry enough to easily cart along the side - it's not overly difficult but just be prepared with a cart or rope. I don't have a cart so I drag mine out which is not too bad as the land between the ramp and water is not hard ground but rather muddy and not too much friction on boat - the more it dries, the harder that will be. I've been towing mine back in with the truck and several hundred feet of rope and have even done a couple of boats at the same time.

Coop can get windy - be prepared with a drift chute.

Other - they are starting a dredging and additional pipe project on the Dallas water supply water intake. WHen the contractor finishes, he noted he may want to dredge the Tira ramp to get his equipment out. TPWD has approved him doing this. That will make launches easier for us, but also allows PB'rs on the water so it's a mixed blessing.

I think the sandies need to be harvested - they are prolific and hard to catch over 15". If you need/want meat, sandies are good at the 15" size. Of course, you can take whatever you want legally.

Tight lines and be careful!

Distance you need to go between ramp and water. Drag through the muddy area or cart to the left where the tire tracks are:

Towing back in:

Kept a few for dinner:

I've never been out there & plan to go Sunday. How do you get a parking pass & how much is it so I know how much extra $$$ to bring?

It's $5 and you can pay at the ramp.

The usual unmanned metal box with TPWD envelops in it. I thought it was $3 though? I just put my annual pass number on it anyway, so I don't pay. I did get a ticket last time out when I failed to do so. Stopped by Drs. Creek and showed my card and it was satisfied..
