I've been ruminating on how exactly to mount my fish finder on my outback for too long. I stopped in at Mariner last week and started really putting some mind to it. One of the problems I had was I didn't want to mount it forward of the inset forward of the handle. It's too far to see very well there. Additionally, I didn't want to mount it in the inset as I wanted it on the right and that would interfere with the rudder up/down t-handle. As I stared at the floor model outback in the store, I wondered if there was some way to bracket around the handle. No sooner than I brought it up to Shaun, he had a solution. He quickly found a Hobie Ram 1" u-bolt with a rail base and ball. That in conjunction with the appropriate YakAttack comob mount for my fishfinder had me set up quick.

It was super quick to get on there and the mount is far enough forward that I can still use the handle. I haven't been out with it yet but it seems like it will be in the perfect location. Thanks for the help Shaun. Can't wait to get her on the water.

Fish eat things. I'll put things in the water that fish like to eat. I'll attach these things to a hook, line, rod, and reel. How hard can this be?

I mounted mine where the wrench is in your pic with a ram mount and honestly it's no in the way but to each his own.
