Welcome to the forum...That Bobcat has been known to catch a crappie or two on Texoma...but he is hard to spot on the water...Unless you see some guy loading the boat with crappie while no one else is...

Ketchn, the screen name is what I do. I am in the retail packaging business. I took the name Boxman on Six Old Geezers when I first got started a long time ago, and wanted it for the TFF, but it was taken. What is funny is when I took that name on 6OG, I had no idea what a box fish was. Most people thought it was because I caught a lot of box fish. It just worked out as a good name. I would love to have Boxman here if whoever has it wants to give it up. I don't think I have ever seen them on here. Maybe they are in another part that I never go.

Buster,
I may be a fan, but I have no idea what that is.

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I have been on Six Old Geezers for quite a while (Boxman), and have been a lurker on here for years. I have decided to try my hand at Crappie this year, and I am hopeful that it goes better than my first year of striper fishing a lot of years back. I know Axman and JD Lyle that I see on here on occasion, so I am sure they will want to say hello.....nicely...
I just spoke with Cliff about booking a trip on RR and possibly a little later on Texoma. Texoma is where I spend 99.9% of my time, so I want to learn how to find and catch crappie there eventually. I know the lake from end to end, but have little or no idea how to find a catch the slabs, but at some point, I hope to.
Any pointers (good/actual ones) are appreciated. I say this because my buddies JD and Ax may send me on a wild goose chase. :-) Cliff is a goodun for sure. He introduced me to the fine slabs on Texoma and I was addicted to that lake from then on. Fishes shallower than any other body I know in the hot blazing summer. When you find them it is on like donkey kong too.

I think Bobcat may be my new best friend. :-)
I do pretty well with the stripers, but I have seen some guys come in with loads of crappie. I was "covetess" so to speak. So, I know they are there.......somewhere. I am already starting to learn some things about what to use and where to find them. I have been working on my "shooting" cast style for getting jigs under structures that I saw Mr. Crappie demonstrating on Outdoor Channel.

Bobcat,
Yep, I talked to Cliff. Great guy. Sounds like he likes the shallow water too. I am the same way. I love striper fishing in the shallowest water I can find them which is why I really like late May-June and Sept-Nov. I am looking forward to fishing with him soon.

Bobcat,
I meant to ask about the Bobcat. I thought at first you might live in Celina.

I did from 2006-2008. Never liked Prosper.

Umm when my son played there in 2006 and 2007 they didn't even get close. 2006 Celina 35 Prosper 7. 2007 Celina 62 Prosper 13. As a matter of fact in 2007 they went 16-0 and won State.

I have lived in Prosper for about 17 years, but didn't really get into the rivalry since my kids are just now freshman at PHS. Now, we have a lot of green stuff as my daughter played on the state runner up vball team this past season as a freshman and my son plays baseball. (They are twins)
I have a good friend that I played football with at TCU in the 80's that has a son that played QB the year Prosper won state. I think that was 2008. His name is Hunter Nix. I also know Troy McCarthy, who I think your son played with. The rivalry was actually getting a lot more fun (for Prosper anyway) but now they never play which is too bad, not just because it was getting more even, but the energy that week was fun to watch.

I agree and that Nix kid was a stud for sure. Troy is a friend of my son and I am a big fan of Troy's not only in football but baseball. 100% heart and a lot of talent. Good kid to boot. Good luck to your kids but it sounds like they don't need much luck. Enjoy it while it lasts. It's over way too soon. Maybe we can sink a jig one day on Texoma.
