They are jigging reels so a sturdy drag is not needed.
Reggie I guess I am trying to ask...if I hook a 2 pound slab,can the drag hold him without stripping all the line...or something like that. Reggie[/quote]

The 'drag' on this reel is nothing more than an adjustment that allows line to be stripped off the reel...or doesn't. At it's tighest setting, it'd probably take a 10# crappie to make line strip off

I have 4 of them and have been very happy with them. The only thing i changed was the line

I have to agree with all said above.
I only use them for pitching a jig and bobber in shallow water during the spawn on my 10 ft poles.
I used to use spin/cast reels, but the slack line would sometimes tangle around reel or crank and would waste a lot of time getting untangled and missing fish for clients.
With this reel, I have no such problems.
