I was there Thanksgiving and you couldn't get thru. They haven't gotten enough rain since then to help it.

I think you can just walk thru it now, a lot easier.

I was there about a month ago and I couldn't get thru....enough water for my shallow draft but too many big rocks blocking the water!

Yea I saw those rocks during the summer. Next time out there I will bite the bullet and get in the tunnel to toss those rocks out.

You can launch on the new side by going West past the boat ramp and take the next left, that is the old highway road that use to go right thru the lake. The road is still paved and I even launched my 22'-0" bay boat. Just have to back way in, and then get your feet a little wet, so take you some boots and a towel.

Glad I wasn't the only one who used that old roadbed for a boat ramp! There is also a second ramp on the southern arm of the "new" lake but you have to go thru the silver lakes housing edition and down a lot of winding and curving roads to find it. Plus, its now unsuitable for launching. You can see it on google maps though.

So it is pretty safe and easy to put in on the old road bed. How wet are you going to get if by yourself?

TPWD says it's excellent bass fishing. Any of ya'll know how cold the water temp there is now? Glad I wasn't the only one who used that old roadbed for a boat ramp! So it is pretty safe and easy to put in on the old road bed. How wet are you going to get if by yourself? just have to back in real far, if your by your self you could do it and take some rubber boots, you should be good. crawl out the window of the truck, get on the hood and go thru the bed of the truck to get into the boat. Once you launch pull boat up on the western side of the road, that side is a little deeper and the road is built up a little, thus allowing you to almost get the boat to the bank. Then the hard part is walking back out to pull your truck out, that's where you need the rubber boots. Like I say I did it last fall with my 22' bay boat.
