In term of crappie fishing, I don't think there is much differences between TX and LA except we don't have to worry about gators trying to eat you any second.....lol. Welcome to the greatest fishing forum in the galaxy.

Thank you all for the great welcome. I am really looking forward to sharing some info. If I say "White Perch" by mistake, thats what we call crappie over here and sometimes I think everyone knows what I am talking about. Actually we also call the Sac-a-lait too (cajun speak).
Our water at our complex is what we call "stained water". It is not muddy, but rather looks like a clear brownish color. This is mostly due to the land around the complex and the different oak trees that stain the water color. Therefore we tend to use some various colors of jigs here. Most popular is chartruese with a black head, followed by white with a blue head, yellow or corn colored and all have a bit of glitter to them. Some use a "hair jig" but most are rubber skirts. Pole lenghts are usually 12 footers, but some 10's and 14's mix in too. We also use shiners here as well. Shiners do the heavy lifting in the warm weather and jigs do the heavy lifting in the colder weather, but it's rare that I go without both. We have a lot of structure in our complex from typical stumps, tons of cypress trees, willow thickets and bushes. It really is a great fishing and hunting environment (except for right now).
