I need to buy a good durable Spinning Reel. I usually use 8lb test. I fish for Bass and Whites. Catching limits on the Navasota today. I bought a Revo Spinning Reel and I am disappointed. I am taking it back to Academy tomorrow. It is not at all smooth under load. Right out of the Box it is OK, but put a good diver or spinner on it, and it seems like the gears are worn. Just not happy with it. I don't care about weight, I want it durable and smooth. I will not pay $700 for a spinner but I will pay a couple hundred.
Need recommendations.

Shimano Symetre, Shimano Spirex, Pflueger President. Do you really need a reel that costs a couple of hundred dollars to catch bass and white bass?

Shimano Spirex RG does me well. Its only $60 or something. Use for whatever bites. I have 15lb test on mine but they come in different sizes and ratios.

Go with the Symmetre 2500 5 BB or if you don't want to pay that much go with a Cabelas Fish Eagle Classic 4 BB (dark green color) $30 bucks for 4 BB it is smooth too.
Crappie or Bass Fishing-It's a REQUIRED Sport!

Shimano Stradic C14+ or last years model C14. I read the reviews at Cabela's and online. Got the C14 on sell $150.00 regular price $200 at Sportsmen warehouse. I've owned many Shimanos, this is my first Stradic. I'm sure I won't be disappointed. I got the 2500F. C14+ is supposed to be stronger than C14 but it was to pricey for me. Both reals are awesome!!!

stradic ci4 is in a class by itself. I have the 3000 model and its the smoothest, lightest, reel I own. My regular stradic 2500mg feels like a paperweight compared to the Ci4. Saving up to get the new ci4+

At the $200 dollar mark you can't beat the Shimano Stradic.
If you want to stay around in the $100 dollar range check out the Penn Battle Reels. All metal frame and extremely smooth.

Get yourself a Pflueger. They make the best smallish spinning reels IMHO. The Shimano Stella was a cold blooded reel years back. Haven't put my hands on one of the recent generations.

I took the Abu Revo back after fishing with it for a day. One days fishing and the gears were already acting worn. Looked hard at the Shimanos but too much plastic on them. Bought a Pflueger President and have yet to try it.

Got to try out the Pfueger President today and in my opinion it is a better reel that the Abu Garcia Revo. It is definitely smoother and an equal in every other means to the Revo. I did catch about 8 fish with it.
