Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I have been on Six Old Geezers for quite a while (Boxman), and have been a lurker on here for years. I have decided to try my hand at Crappie this year, and I am hopeful that it goes better than my first year of striper fishing a lot of years back. I know Axman and JD Lyle that I see on here on occasion, so I am sure they will want to say hello.....nicely...

I just spoke with Cliff about booking a trip on RR and possibly a little later on Texoma. Texoma is where I spend 99.9% of my time, so I want to learn how to find and catch crappie there eventually. I know the lake from end to end, but have little or no idea how to find a catch the slabs, but at some point, I hope to.

Any pointers (good/actual ones) are appreciated. I say this because my buddies JD and Ax may send me on a wild goose chase. :-)

welcome

I don't know anything about those two lakes so I can't help you there. But crappie fishing can be a ton of fun, while being frustrating at the same time.

But it's my preferred fish to chase and catch. banana

Welcome aboard... If you have access to boat slips, it is about to be on...

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

welcome I can tell you, your knowledge of Texoma end to end will serve you well when learning crappie movements & habits. You'll find that for most of the year, crappie are like stripers in that they follow the bait. Anyway, again, WELCOME & Good Luck!

What is the lake level at Texoma nowdays? Hear it's really low. If so, what is the ramp situation?
I also have a place on Bridgeview on the OK side. It's going to be for sale soon if you know someone that wants an old trailer house/metal garage/boat shed maybe for just weekend fishing use, let me know. CHEAP is the word for this place.

AND, welcome to the forum!

Texoma is around 609' right now and it is a mess for ramps. Here is a good link that addresses it:
http://www.sixoldgeezers.com/discus/

Look under Daily Fishing Reports and then "Open and Closed Ramps.."

I hope this helps. They also have an "Items for Sale" page where you could list your property.

Josh,

I may take you up on this offer if the timing works out. I travel a fair amount, but if I am in town, that would be great. Let me know.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome, and hopefully I am posting good "catching" reports soon in this forum.

Welcome to the forum. Like Ketchn, I was interested in your screen name. Are you a fan of Incra-Jig?

Welcome Boxmaker. Texoma has been my favorite lake for years.
