I just picked up some 50 lb power pro to spool my new reel with from academy. I was spooling it when the line stopped short. I measured the line and I was shorted about 100 yards of a 150 yard spool. Has this every happened to anyone else?

People also like to buy a cheap line and an expensive one and switch them and return the expensive package. Companies should really seal their packages better.

Probably should check start unsealed packages. I remember seeing the pic on here of the strike king tungsten weights on the shelf that someone had switched out with lead, no doubt putting tungsten in cheap.lead package, nothing is safe anymore.

Yup you probably got a box someone used and returned. The world is full of scumbags. I've gotten in the habit of checking all of the boxed line in the store, before goin to the counter. Sad it's come to that.

I was at Wal Mart the other day and noticed every package of 1/4oz tungsten was replaced with lead weights and were restocked on the shelf. Some people!

I agree 100%. But they don't. And it's easier to put a piece of tape on a box than it is to change people.

I bought a spool of Power Pro Braid that had been spliced not once but twice, you could tell it was not a factory splice too.

The night before tournament and I was not a happy camper.

I've also seen at academy where people buy crankbaits or tungsten weights. And return them and put another cheap crankbait or lead weights in the package and take it back. Maybe they need to have someone that knows the products when things get returned to check and make sure it's the right product. Sometimes it's not even close to the right color. If the clerks were educated to know the fishing lure colors it would be easy to catch. Or maybe a picture of the product when they scan it to make sure it looks the same. Now with line they should have it wrapped in plastic like the big spools of big game. And If the plastic is gone they can't take it back.

Retail stores know this goes on, buying one item and returning another. They budget for it and just consider it theft like shoplifting. It's not worth it monetarily for the stores to do anymore than they're currently doing about it.

That's another big part of the issue.
