I'm trying to get my first trout on a fly rod. The idea of catching a fish right after it gets pumped into a pond is kind of weird to me but at this point with how slow everything is (with all species) I'm open to the idea. That said, I see that Frisco commons pond is scheduled to be stocked w/ trout tomorrow. Is there a set time that they usually go out to do the stocking? Also I know these stockings are no secret, but how crowded are these ponds on stocking days? Is it reasonable or are they shoulder to shoulder with people and almost not even worth going to?
Thanks in advance

Frisco Commons was stocked this morning for the kid fishing derby. Someone mentioned they stocked it before sunrise, and the fish seemed to be in shock.

First time seeing so many Trout swimming close to the bank after a stocking. Even got some underwater video of a school or two going by... Today's Video.

Did manage to catch one on a fishing fly, the others were caught using a Silver Kastmaster jigged up and down as a school passed by the pier. Hoping by tomorrow they will act normal again and move a little further from the bank.

It can get crowded, especially on the weekends. If you prefer less crowding, give it a try during the week. Should have more room and the fish should have settled out as well.

Good luck and good fishing!

Oh, the TPWD website shows it being stocked tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up and information, I really appreciate it!! I'll be sure to watch the video! Once again, thank you.

Made it back this afternoon. Trout were lurking near the bank again, and they were picky, picky, picky. Managed to limit out, using fishing flies. Overcast and cold, but still has a good time once we figured the pattern! Today's Video.

I was there on Sunday from about 4:00 - 5:15. Not too crowded but man was it cold. The trout certainly were all over the place up and down the shoreline. I tried a little mepps spinner and a super duper with no luck. I didn't see anyone pull one out with rod and reel, but I saw several people pull a few out with nets. Won't be able to go back until this weekend. Hopefully they're still around then and are a little more aggressive.

Went there Sunday morn and evening each for about 2 hours...and saw a grand total of 1 fish being caught with a rod and reel. Went for about 1 hour yesterday evening with nothing again. I've thrown about every fly and haven't been able to get any, super weird how they're staying right by the shore. I'm appalled by the amount of people netting them, both kids and adults...

Did this pond ever improve and are there any fish left? I want to take my 4 year old, but I don't want him to be bored.

They were biting this morning on powerbait and corn. Started hitting Powerbait Trout worms around 9ish. They are shallow, 10 feet from bank in the northwest corner but nothing like last weekend they have finally settled in.

Yup! I got about 10 in 3 hours, with a few small bass mixed in. It wasn't a "hot bite" but everyone seemed to be catching a few at least. Caught mine on a nymph, others around me were using various methods with comparable success.

Agree... not a hot bite. Was there this afternoon. Caught a limit; used a Gold Super Duper, and then switched to a fly rod. Caught them on a Wooley Bugger.

No action shots this round; had a low battery. Forgot to charge the camera since the last outing. No worries, able to get enough footage of the Trout (as well as several Bluegill) that were caught. Fun stuff... decided to cook them with Cajun Blackened Seasoning on a hot iron skillet! Today's Video.
