How do you know where to fish when driveing down the beach? It seems to me that last fall when I went fishing that most places where I would wade out the guts were very pronouced, but the last few times I've gone it just seems to taper off pretty steady. I assume that is seasonal thing with the wind direction ? yes? So what to look for ? Thanks

it may be BS or my imagination, but it seems that every where i find thick shell or those little clams(mussels?) washed up in a area, there's a gut close and fish frequent that area, anyways, that's one of the things i look for when driving the beach.

I know there are definitely 3 pronounced guts on PINS when I have waded it, as far as finding the fish it's always the three B's (birds, birds, birds) and I really like to choose what time of year to get the most bang for my buck which is Sept-Oct when the Mullet are migrating.

What beach are you fishing? Texas' beach is very long and can be different based on the prevailing wind and current.
Yes, how you perceive the guts and bars can be different in winter with the lower tide height.
There are areas where the first gut pinches at the beach and the water if forced back out across the frst bar into the second gut and bar.. those are great areas. after you see one, you'll be able to find others. They can be found typically about 1/4 to 1 mile apart and takes a keen eye to find them reading the current flowing back out into the waves. the waves will stand up a little and move back out a little (they'll be a little offset to others). And yes, there may be a little shell fragment build up where this happens as well.
Bait, birds, and slicks is the key but you have to learn the ins and outs of how to read that to really know how to locate the fish from the sign.
