I don't know about Abilene to Alpine but, Burger King in Fort Stockton seems to always get the nod between Houston and El Paso with my crew. barf

fishinman,
What are you going to be doing in Alpine??? We used to play football there vs Sul Ross. That was always our longest road trip of the year.

fishinman,
I coach at Austin College, I also played there in the mid-90's, so I've been to Sully a few times!!!! We played McMurry the 2nd game this year. Before you say anything, I know we are terrible. Too bad we had to go to the SCAC just to win a few games. Anyway, are you referring to the Buck Creek on Ray Roberts?? I coached in Collinsville from 2000-2003 so I'm very familiar.

My son plays at McM--Are you teaching over toward Gainesville now? If so, I hollared at you at the McM/AC Game a while back--Used to coach against Coach Brister back in the day-Got to visit with him after the McM/AC game also-And for the record, McM is NOT in much better shape, they a need a coaching change, and now!
Yep, and it's the same Buck Creek--We've been wearin' out the crappie and sand bass lately! Fishin's been good!
Good luck on the rest of the year!

You probably talked to Coach White who is teaching in Callisburg. I teach at Whitesboro and have been coaching part time at AC for the past 4 years. We both coached at Collinsville together as well. Your son went to Gunter right? I wish he were playing for us.
I haven't been fishing Roberts much this year since I moved back to Sherman. Plus most of our Bass Club tourneys are on Texoma. The small mouth are really biting right now. I fished yesterday morning in the rain and caught 5 smallies.

Yep, that's him--Yes, I'm in Gunter--
You'll have to come down sometime and go to RR--Crappie fishing has been awfully good this year and still is--
What club do you fish? I've been looking for one to join--Now that he's about through playing, I can get back to fishing more tournaments--
Would love to do some of that "smallie" fishing also--
I do a lot of slow trollin' for crappie in the winter--Lot of fun, if you haven't ever done it--
Give me a hollar sometime--I fish a lot of days by myself during the summer--
Good luck this weekend! Tell the Coachman kid I said hello--

It's pricey, but the restaurant in the old Gage Hotel in Marathon is good.

I'm in Texoma Bass Club. We meet every second Tuesday (7:30) of the month at the AmVets in Sherman. We have one club tournament a month, and you can either fish Sat. or Sun depending on your schedule.

I'll say hello to Coachman this afternoon. He's really a great kid. I wish we had more like him.

Fishinman,
How are the ex-Indians doing this year. We are 3-5 with two games to play.

I know this is an old post, and I hate resurecting old posts, but I went to school in Alpine so have a little knowledge. For breakfast, you have to stop by Alicia's Burrito Place. Great breakfast tacos! Lunchtime, head over to La Casita for some great Mexican food.
