Hey everybody, Im new to the forum and was hoping to get a little advice. I live in Azle and have primarily fished Eagle Mountain from the bank. I just bought a boat and was planning a trip on Monday. Any advice would be helpful on where to find some blues. I have fished the lake from a boat with my buddy and have not had an issue finding plenty of channel cats, but i'd like to hook into a big ol' blue. Fresh shad is obviously the bait of choice for that, but does anyone know of any places to target these fish?

Welcome to the forum, but I've heard there are no fish in EM!
Not sure I believe it.

Welcome! Sounds like you and I are in similar predicaments, lol. I'm new to TFF also. Bought my first bout last year and fished EM every chance I got. I thought I was doing really well until I started reading these forums. Caught a 27 lb back in October that was way, way bigger than my previous PB. I guess 20 lb. blues are common fare for some folks, but it was the fish of a lifetime for me - so far at least.

I typically fish the area north and west of the island. I look for areas with sharp drop-offs and fish the deep-water side. If I don't get bites there I will try the shallower side of the same drop-off. I'm definitely no expert, but it has worked for me in the past. I catch many more blues than channel cat - I guess because I fish almost exclusively with fresh shad. Best of luck!
