If you are a Texan, a Chicken Fried Steak has to be at the top of your favorite foods. Now, I have had some really good ones. However, there are a couple restaurants in Somerville Texas that have great Chicken Fried Steaks. However, I can't remember their names. Does anyone know the names of these two restaurants? They are located on the main highway that goes through the town. How about other towns? I will drive miles out of my way for a great Chicken Fried Steak.

Mary's is a great CFS but don't forget Flossie's across the street. Their CFS is just about as good as Mary's and it is alot easier to get a seat.

Cattlemens in Kerrville. CFS was bigger than the 18" plate it was on. A couple of folks walking out stopped by to ask if it tasted as good as it looked.
Oh, yeah!

Cole Mountain Restaurant in Terrell (sits right on Hwy. 80) has the biggest, baddest chicken fried steak you'll ever lay yo' chops into, for sure!

The one in Somerville is the Country Inn. It looks like a dump. Great chicken fried steaks, huge steaks.

Don't listen to Hookem, Texdawg, he's joking. Calf fries are wonderful little pieces of deep fried filet mignon. Be sure to try them next time you're out.
Another reason I enjoy sunnies, they're pretty

If you know the difference between a bull and a steer, then you will get the idea what calf fries are. They are supposed to be good, but I can't eat them due to a mental block. As for cfs, the best I have had was from Bubba's in Ennis.
The hardest thing about fishing is figuring out what the fish want to eat.

Calf fries are good eats, remember growing up and cuttin calves, my pop and uncle would collect em in an old metal pail and get my mom to fry em up with some cream gravy, man I really need to make the drive up there see the folks and swing by Mary's now.
