Thanks for the information. I plan on placing this unit on the front rail of my pontoon as I will be replacing it with an SI unit on the console in the near future.

The quick disconnect mount is too large to use there. So I was going to have a metal bar made that will connect to these two threaded inserts and to the front rail.

Now I wonder if those two threaded inserts would be strong enough to hold the unit if attached to a metal bar on the front rail of the pontoon. So I may need to design a metal base that will attach to the rail and use the quick disconnect mount on that base.

Thanks again for your response.

Ed

There is a RAM mount that is made for the Humminbird quick disconnect base and there are rail clamp RAM bases to go with it.
Check out the RAM web site.

I looked at RAM mounts previously but they were all too short for what I will need. I was not aware of the rail adapter for the RAM mount.

I will keep this in mind when I am ready for the conversion. I will need to find a square u-bolt to mount it to my square rail but that should not be that hard to find.

Thanks,

Ed

There are upgrades and downgrades.

Upgrades:
Faster processor
Ethernet connection is in the cable collector--easier removal of the unit.
Internal GPS antenna--good for some applications
$500 less expensive MSRP than the 898c HD SI Comb MSRP

Downgrades:
Not Navionics Platinum compatable
Comes with the Compact SI transducer instead of the HDSI transducer, BUT can use the HDSI
transducer for an additional cost
Requires the AS EC QDE Ethernet adaptor for the Ethernet connection--not supplied
Internal GPS antenna--an external GPS antenna is needed for some applications=additional
cost

Out of the box, the 899ci HD SI Combo is a wide screen version of the 798ci HD SI Combo.

The 987c Combo is compatable with INTERLINK
The 787 C2 Combo is compatable with INTERLINK

INTERLINK shares GPS data between units and both units have GPS.

I have connected my 788Ci HD di to the US2 transducer in a Minn Kota Fortrex 101. I got the cable from Humminbird. It does not work, I know that I can't expect it to do down imaging but figured the 2d would work fine. Am I missing something or do I just need to get a transducer and mount it on the bottom of the TM?

Also, my 1197c loses bottom as soon as I take off is there a way to connect multiple transducers so that I can use the unit while running?

I just updated the software on both units

Thanks for any help

Jody
