So I've got a daiwa seagate 50 with approximately 700yds of 30lb power pro on it, and some extra room still left on the spool, I'm thinkin about setting it up on a 12' ocean master rod for the surf and a Shapespeare Tiger rod for pier fishing (mostly pin rigging) does anyone have any input or opinions on these setups? Should I go with something else? Should I add a top shot of line over the braid? I would really like some outside opinions on these rigs. I know the 50 is a bit large for most species but it was given to me and with shark, tarpon, kings, and cobia all being possibilities in the TX surf or off the Piers I just want to be prepared.
Thanks, Chris
Tight lines and God bless!

Personally I would add some mono over the braid, I have tried using braid while surf fishing and I would see abrasion on my line (guessing from the sand). I use both braid and mono, they both have their good and bad qualities so if you already have that much line on your reel I say use it till it goes.
