Inherited an older model 850 (85hp) Mercury motor. Was told it never had been registered and that it is a 1974 model. Cannot locate the serial number anywhere. Any of you guys out there able to help as to where the serial number is? Thanks!

On that year model it is on the plate on the front of the motor on the tilt tube between the clamp brackets.
