TL, I was reading your post and KNEW you where talking about Dunston's--yes, they are still in business. My wife and I ate at the steakhouse behind the burger joint just the other night. Both places are great.
Although, I gotta say, their salad dressing really SUCKS! On the positive side, they are the only place I've ever eaten that can make zuccini (SP?) taste good (fried with dipping sauce!!).
Come on to Dallas and I'll treat!!

I may surprise you one of these days & take you up on that! man, I went back to Dunston's after they got opened & I ordered a double meat HB & I could not eat all of it & in those days, I COULD PUT AWAY the groceries! That was the best HB I have ever eaten until this very day! I loved the way they mesquite cooked them & the old fashioned homecut fried taters were great! It has been close to 20 years since I was there last!WOW, time does get away fast!LOL!
Keep your powder dry & don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes!!
