Truer words were never spoken. Kincaids is for yuppies in downtown or Southlake who are all about hype and not at all about taste. Almost as over-rated as Joe T. Garcia's, the MOST overrated restaurant in the history of ever. Give me Jim's, Chaps, or even Billy Minors over Kincaids ANYDAY. [/b]Fish, I am so glad to hear that someone besides me thinks that about JoeT Garcia's! I went there one time for Christmas party & I was expecting greatness from all I'd heard, I was never so disappointed in any place in my life! I can fix better food than that on my worst day! That was even decent doggie bag food, I would'nt want my dogs eating it!

Now for my assessment on the best burger in Texas, it has ben a few years since I was there, but there was a steakhouse on HarryHines in Dallas that built a hamburger joint next door, I cannot remember the name of it for the life of me. They specialized in mesquite broiled burgers that were as big as a good sized dinner plate, that is not an exaggeration either! I wish I could think of their name, but at that time, I was on the road trucking & had eaten at a lot of joints & NEVER had a better hamburger anywhere at any time up to right now!!!I knew about it because I hauled the lime up there to build the foundation & parking lot for it. I just remembered the name! It was "DUNSTONS" on Harry Hines! Man I would love to have one of those big 'Ol mesquite hamburgers right now & an order of old fashioned sliced potatoe fresh fries!Does anyone know if they are still in business?

Texas Hamburger Palace on Ranchester in Houston does pretty good. But Boghole Billy's in Katy does it best!

Did a lot of traveling thru Texas counties before I retired, and places like Spankys in Lubbock (run with the big dogs), Butcher Boys in Nacagdoches or Koppe Bridge in College Station are well known in their regions for great burgers.
But now I don't go far, just slip off down Highway 21 east of Bryan and try to beat all the workers crowding into Joe's Place (9376 E Highway 21) whenever I really want the best burger in Texas. -ray

Boatman, if or when I ever get over in your neck of the woods again, I am going to be forced to try on some wings & maybe a burger then! You sound like a man with a passion for what he does, striving to do it well! Not huge, but packed with flavor, and available 24/7.Be sure to get cheese and jalapenos. Also, have your own supply of beer,(dry county).
