Hey bro, I see you have been a member on here for a long time so I am confused as to how you got upset with a few comments. If you have spent any time on the crappie section you would know that DW just likes giving folks a hard time and Ketchen, well he just like to type alot lol. But, I have seen both of them help out in more than one way on here. I grew up fishing Palestine and even guided on the lake for several years. I get more PMs and phone calls from Folks wanting GPS coords or "where do I catch a limit of fish" request that I have pretty much give up on helping folks. With that said, I put in so much time and effort to be able to catch crappie on a regular basis all year long that it don't seem right to just turn a person I don't even know right on top of a brushpile or spawning flat it took me a lot of effort to build or find. Lots of folks get on here and with the quick give it to me attitude, then get their feelings hurt when no one mails them a SD card full of awesome fishing spots. I have posted on this many times and this time will be no different but hey what the heck maybe on person will see this and get it. If you take one trip out of say five to the lake and sink brush instead of fishing then in a few months you will have spots that others will be pestering you for because you are the one posting all the pics of crappie! There are definitely shortcuts to catching crappie, and they all depend on you needing someone else to either take you or show you where. I guess I have a hard time with these type threads because when I decided crappie fishing was my thing I jumped head first into it. My dad took me and showed me what he knew, and I picked things up along the way from really good crappie fishermen but for the most part I got on the water and was determined to figure things out for myself.
I will tell you this and then I will give it to you guys, Palestine is not a lake that you just go to and fish jump in the boat. Sure there are some good days where it is easier to catch fish. Winter time and during the spawn will drive you crazy on Palestine because the fish tend to move a lot. If you fish the bridge 7 times and aren't catching fish that should tell you you probably need to go else where to find them or do something different to get them to bite. I guess I got off a bit on the original subject but all I am trying to get across to folks is this; yes this is a public forum but no one is obligated to give you any information. It takes good guys and gals to make a forum worth being a part of. I have asked many questions on here and most have gone unanswered but some were answered and the knowledge that was shared was much appreciated and used. I don't know any other way to put it that makes sense, you get out of this forum what you put into it. If you are a jerk you will not get much help, if you give a little you will get more information from folks. Ask this question "could I fill someones boat up for a little time on the water with a local from the lake you want to learn" instead of this question "I can't find them where are they". I know I would be more likely to help folks out if they started off trying to help those that they are asking to help them, instead of it coming out like I owe them something. Hey man when you make a post on here and someone makes a comments on it ,unless you are looking them in the face ,it`s hard to tell when the person commenting is doing so tounge in cheek.You just have to figure that you will get some serious responses and some not so serious. It`s not personal man.I have been guilty of saying things on here that were taken out on context while saying so jokingly but the person could`nt see me or my expression to acknowledge that I was just kidding.That is what happens on a forum.
